How long does the backup normally take?
Backups are very fast. Our delta technology transmits only the changed portions of each backup set. Exactly how long that takes depends on the size of your backup, speed of your Internet connection, and amount of changed data. On average it's less than 30 minutes per night.

Because the initial backup requires the transmission of all your selected data, it takes the longest and can require multiple backup sessions to complete. Our system will continue running nightly on the initial backup until completed with no user intervention. After the initial backup is complete, nightly backups are much smaller than tape backup systems and deliver in a much more efficient and faster backup system.

How is my data secured?
We employ two primary security measures

1. Limit access to your data by requiring user & password authentication
2. Encrypting your data prior to transmission and storing it in an encrypted state on our servers

What software will be loaded on my computer system?
The backups require a small software application to be loaded onto the computer to be backed up. This program provides every function necessary to complete (backups, restores, logs, etc)

After installation, can I make modifications to my configuration?
Yes, it is very easy to make any needed modification to your backup options. This is accomplished using the installed backup manager on your computer.

How often will my computer be backed up?
This is completely up to you, backups can be scheduled as often as you like. We recommend a nightly backup when the internet is least utilized at your facility.

How many backups do you retain?
We can customize any retention plan you desire (30, 60, 90 etc.). By default we retain 90 days of backups.

What tasks do I have to do every day to run a backup?
Nothing is required on a daily basis. Each day a detailed e-mail report will be sent to the designated administrator with full details attached.

Do I need to back up my entire computer?
This is completely up to you; we recommend that you backup the most important data.

How much data can I back up?
Our customer's backups range from less than 1 GB to many TB (TeraBytes).

How much compression can I expect from my data?
That depends on the type of data you are backing up. The amount of compression varies from 90% compression for text based files to 0% compression for compressed image type files.

How does the automatic backup scheduler work?
At the time you have selected, your computer will make a secure TCP connection to our backup servers. Your data will always be encrypted before leaving your location, and then it will be transmitted to our secure facility. When the backup is complete you will be notified by E-Mail as to the status of the backup job.

What happens if I unknowingly back up corrupted files?
With our backup retention options you can simply restore from an earlier time period. This makes recovery from a corrupt file simple.
